Group II – 2nd Group I
Swap of matches
Spain – Denmark
After the tumultuous first match where Barthold got sent off harshly by the Spanish refs and on the buzzer after the second extra time the match was won.
Iceland should
have won it in normal time but the ball thrown towards the empty net was missed
by a whisker. No time to type and work actively on something else I love as dearly. Main reason for the stay in London to be fair.
Maqueda is sin
binned for 2 mins and 1-0 after 2’30
Great leap by
Aleix
Both teams are
nervous
Error message
like in Egypt last year
In the
meantime, 1-2 8’30
Great Gonzalo
save
Casado fires
one in a fabulous yet nonchalant way but Lauge so pacy that he scores within
seconds 2-3 10’
Landin read the
line play attempt by Spain
This is why he
is the world player of the year
Saugstrup gets
a lovely ball from MH and this time he fires home 2-4 12’20
But Spain
missed their shot.
Pressure back
on as 93% Gidsel is well marshalled by GG & Co
For the second
time the whole thing stopped and its now 4-6 after 16 mins
If Joan were
French, it would have been a two minute suspension.
Jordi rightly asks for a balance ofensivo pero el
reto hay que sentar la defensa!
Twice the images
stuttered and Joan/Landin Kiel reunion is to Nicklas’s benefit
Casado top
corner of huge importance just as I thought we were missing Talant’s sons
Costly Figueras
2 minutes and the steal did not last sadly.
Jorge is also
cooking very well with the Danish players
Incredible Gonzalo save. El GATO. Sadly
only on 38% at the minute.
Aleix gets it
onto the crossbar and Hansen instead pulls that one in the middle of the goal
But Jorge
whizzles through with Magnus Landin getting two minutes
Svan on the
road like a powerful van and Aleix on the wrist response 7-10 23’
Mensah is well
known. His 2012 and 2019 goals are well analyzed.
Fernandez
shortens the deficit
Denmark playing
the horrible 7-6
Only two mins
and not a direct disqualification. Interesting shout.
Very confusing
so cannot tell. Had I been in Budapest I would have known. 99000 HUF or 136000
HUGS TO THE INTERNET NIGHTMARE.
Unchallenged
Joan not hindered by his emotional rollercoaster this week
The Internet
again playing devil’s advocate
No use shouting and lost the rest and as I was calm Spain came back strong 13-14
The same thing
happened in Egypt. The late January internet outage.
And so quickly
its time to watch. No time going back to work.
Joan draws it
level 14-14 32’20
Where did Lauge
find that angle but Gomez responded very well indeed 15-15 35’
Gomez gets the
equaliser 39’
2023 Sweden and
Poland. Of course, cannot easily travel from Poland to Sweden if Spain and
France are sent in opposite directions.
Joan and Aleix
showing the way 18-16 41’
Suspension and
7-meter. Unlucky Gurbi.
Hansen back
within one as Rodrigo did not parry 18-17 42’
Why a 2-min for
Emil? Error by the refs.
Near post
Tarrafeta 19-17 43’
Empty net by
Aleix as Moller could not get back 20-18 44’
Holm finds the
right angle but our friend Aitor scores 21-19 45’
What a Gonzalo
impression and over doing by the Danes.
Figueras to the
party 22-19 47’
Hansen near
post on a giant leap 22-20 47’35
Fantastic
Gonzalo as Emil is in his pocket. Second time and this time it’s a save, not
the post.
Jorge injured hobbling off.
Number 10 for
Gomez 23-20 49’
Pecina made a
mistake and a costly 2-minute
Instead of
Gonzalo’s save, its 23-21 50’
I should be in
touch with Ernesto.
Aleix has a
brilliant steal 24-21 51’
But quickly
24-22
Mr Ribera right
to stick with Aleix. Victor Tomas was right!
Magnus Landin
foiled by Gonzalo brilliantly
Joan scoring
easily. Great. Three in a row but for France or Sweden. But the game is not yet
finished.
Remember the
Littlewoods thing.
M Landin going
the same way again.
Adrian gets the
better of Landin who just replaced Moller
No rush despite
empty goal. Gonzalo doing it, Rodrigo admiring
Another one by
Adrian 27-23 56’40
27-24 three
minutes left.
Danny Sarmiento
comes in.
Adrian missed.
Mensah close to
the turnover.
Good line play
by Denmark
27-25 and time
out. NO HAY PASIVO.
All the wives
are here in Budapest.
Joan scores in
the final minute 28-25
Save by
Gonzalo. 4th final in a row.
Joan scoring
with a big smile 29-25
Gomez, Gonzalo, Joan, Jorge. CAMPEONES!
Change in guard
as unofficial handball gets the bragging rights.
Party time for Noelia and Paco !
After a well done to Joan on twitter, lest it be time to prepare with the anthems and a bit of hot food (lentils and bacon)
19h30

Group I – 2nd Group II
France – Sweden
Moved to 19.45
so EHF TV stuck. So annoying !
Takes ages to
load. It would be so much better as a photographer or simply as a fan in the arena. No further comments from the Commons.
Still no Remi. Sadly.
Lenne has his
solo goal 1-0 1’20
2055 euros back
by cheque.
Fab finds the rebound 2-0 3’
Gotfridsson
outmuscles the Frence defence
Hugo scores a
good one 3-1 3’50
Superb pass by
NK to Fab and Fab lovely goal
So far super happy
for Michel L an Malou from so far
Three awesome
matches so far.
Dika gigantic
leap
Sweden time out
5-1 5’40. It will not last. Most probably. Remember how Norway got side-tracked.
Carlsbogard
beauty 5-2
Melvin to NK.
Simple play. Awesome 6-2 7’
Crossbar on the
rebound. Lucky France.
7-meter and
2-min for Konan.
Pellas scores
with no messing around 6-3 8’45
Beautiful
Lavergren response to Melvin leap 7-4 10’20
Hugo gets a
2-min. Right call.
Gotfridsson is
so easy 7-5 11’55
Palicka scores
in the empty net after Nahi denied 7-6
13’
How come its
not 2-min for Sweden if it’s a 7-meter
Melvin scores
in to a bit of respite
Fast break from
schoolbook but great VG save
Dika bouncy
shot 9-6 14’45
Beautiful
Persson goal.
This time
hardly touched Dika and 2-mins.
Of course,
Palicka fired up as Nicolas Tournat missed
Hurry up
Hugo makes no
mistake
I thought it
was a big miss but it’s a great VG save
10-7 17’40
Great pass by
Jim looking away and Sweden nutmegging France
Palicka scores
into empty net 10-9 19’30
Palicka gets
number three. Stupid empty goal strategy 10-10
10-10 All
square 20’
The 5-1 time is
truly over.
No way. Why the
ball back?
Never a foot.
Terrible decision
Carlsbogard
scores 10-11 22’
Great move by
Hugo 11-11 22’
Wallinius
scores and gets 2 minutes.
Hugo scares me.
12-12 23’20
No way!
Pellas scores
12-13 24’
Painful minutes
because we have lost our stamina
Why this time
nothing against France?
Great angle by
Pellas 13-14 25’50
Change in
keeper and Hugo missed late because it does it TOO often the same way
13-15 27’45
Great Sweden move but Hugo finds the net brilliantly
14-15 28’
Gotfridsson
beauty 14-16
How its not a
7-meter? How on earth?
Still time for
Gotfridsson to score number 17
14-17 at the
break. Deep trouble.
Saving
efficiency 11% by VG.
What a
turnaround by Sweden 16-9!
Palicka too easy.
Its never a
7-meter and now 14-18 32’30
Low shot by NK
easy save for Palicka
Minne saving
the rout 15-19 33
Well done clean
rebound by Fab 16-19 34’40
I missed
Sweden’s 19.
17-20 36’30
Palicka a bit
ambitious this time and Fab collector
18-20 37’
France needs
Remi. So annoying.
18-21 38’
Why not
stopping the clock?
15 seconds
lost!
Sweden got a
7-meter for les than this and the counter, 3 goal deficit
20-22 40’
Remi would have
saved it.
Playing without
a goalie is no good.
Good overlap
and nice angle by Nahi 21-23 42’
22-24 43’
Its our ball !
Gotfridsson
scores from nowhere 22-25 44’
Minne saving
the rout 24-26 45’40
Very late
decision. And wrong referee.
It was a
counter and instead its 24-27 by Jim
Decisive moment
if WE lose.
Good Tournat
underneath goal 25-27 47’
Now the clock
ticking
You cannot win
without keepers.
Unfair 7-meter
25-28 48’
Stop the clock
you incompetent
26-28 49’
26-30 50’40
Even the young
substitute makes saves
Hurry up
27-30 52’30
Gottfridsson
again 27-31 53’
28-31’
29-31’
Should be
2-mins. There is a foul on Nahi
Inconsistency
Carlsbogard
AGAIN 29-32
Again seconds
lost.
If Palicka
saves it it’s all over.
30-32 55’40
One save but we
need to score quick and the ball is shared far too slowly. Minne, 7 goals
31-32 56’25
Nothing in it.
Red card to Valou. No ill-intention.
Handball is a
contact sport.
31-33 Pellas
57’
Hurry up.
What’s the bloody difference then? THAT foul on Lenne is actually more vicious.
Should be a red
card to Sweden. Shame on you refs for the lack of consistency
Gotfridsson
again 32-34 58’40
Palicka saves
Costly miss by
Fabregas
2 seconds lost.
33-34 It will
have to be by the look of things
Shock not
necessarily but why delight? Fair appreciation of a good match is more like it.
There was a
foul on Minne. GG should have taken a
time out at that THAT point.
The end is
confusing.
I thought there
was a 7-meter but Fab missed as Dika almost made an attacking foul 33-34
Great Palicka
save indeed. KIEL and RNL together.
Class is
permanent in Sweden. Well done Sweden.
