EHF Men 2020 - Last day for nothing

Earlier whilst we were at work Spain and Croatia drew.
We then, whilst on the bus, watched Norway Slovenia first half as Norway leading by one at the interval (14-13).
At home I can have Czech Republic vs Germany on the phone and Sweden vs Iceland on the PC

No handball tomorrow. How odd?

FIRST HALF

1-a piece in Icelandic battle and Germany finally gets the lead after 3 min played

Iceland do not seem to be very motivated

The Czech off the mark after 5 mins, in the meantime therefore Sweden large lead 4-1 (5’)

A minute later the Czech Republique is up 2-1. But Germany reacted swiftly 2-4 (9’45)

Arnesson jumps with an impressive third goal making it 9-5 (14’30) and he now has half of his team’s 10 goals 10-7 (16’)

Galia from his own goal scores into the empty net 5-6 (16’15)

What a pass by Appelgren as Sweden has a decent lead against soulless Iceland following their disappointing main round results 13-8 (21’30)

Maqueda look-alike made in PRAHA leaps to beautiful goal 8-10 (22’15)

Iceland have only scored 10 goals in over 25 minutes. Mind you it is 9-10 in the Germany match after 24 minutes.

Fast break for Sweden whose players are getting a 6-goal lead (26’45)

A missed penalty by Zdrahala enables Germany to keep a 2-goal advantage 9-11 (25’)

Petersson also plays at RNL. OUCH USAM.

Easy combination for Sweden and it’s 18-11 at the break.

Weber secures a 4-goal lead on a low scoring affair and Bitter avoids a deficit reduced to 2 goals moments before the half-time break. CESKY 10 – Germany 13.

SECOND HALF

Unorthodox Nilsson scores a bizarre goal making the scoreline 20-12 (34’)

Galia provides an important save helping his team closing the gap 12-13 (33’45)

Gustaffson missed his pass but almost scored an awkward goal (35’)

Surprisingly Germany now losing 14-13 with 36 mins on the clock. It took Germany just over six mins to score their first goal in the 2nd half.

Wing play by Iceland but it looks as if he had put his foot on the floor before releasing the ball, but not seen by the officials.

SVERIGE does not need more chocolate! They are now leading 25-16 (43’)

Bitter quick thinking enables Germany to extend their lead 14-16 (41’)

Weber impressive forward play and Germany still in the lead 16-18 (44’25)

The young fans enjoying the Swedish easy ride 27-19 (48’)

Appelgren having a decent game, and the Icelandic mission is impossible. Palicka can stay on the bench.

Beautiful wing play by Sweden: 29-20 for Sweden with change in ball movement (52’)

So far Iceland did not get any suspension, not surprising as they are not defending with a lot of aggressivity. Elisson cuts the deficit in such an easy fashion 29-22 (54’) but Appelgren got injured as he moved backwards.

I missed the Golla incident ie his red card (3rd 2 -minute suspension). It looks like the officials are giving cheap suspensions in the Germany match!

Germany in the money time extends their lead as both teams are one player down but the Czech team remains focused despite a 3-goal deficit 20-23 (53’30)

Sweden comprehensively beats Iceland with Palicka with no saves in 5 minutes: 32-25

Despite their 2 suspensions the Czech team gets their goal number 21 (54’30)

Kastening scores a beautiful goal on the wing and the biggest lead so far for Germany 21-26 (56’25)

Even the public scoffs at the number of exclusions!

Even the Czech team is in no hurry to reduce the deficit. Very strange.

Germany scored after the buzzer so Germany won by four 22-26
