Germany 2019 - Day X A priceless Iceland win for France

The France staff are listening to the national anthem

When French players started to train I had Vincent Gerard so close to me that I briefly muttered the words 'Bonne Chance' to him in the hope that he would perform beautifully out of superstition. That's what happened as he was voted Man of the Match. He got a black eye following a ball thrown at him by an Icelandic player who got away with it. I waited for him in the media center and told him 'Bravo Vincent' and he said thank you.

This win was down to a good defensive display. France was leading 6-0 after 12 minutes and was leading only 15 to 11 at the interval.
Melvin Richardson was introduced in the second half and performed very well again. Valou, Valentin Porte scored valuable goals in the first half.
I was very much involved into the game ; however I suddenly started to fizzle out out of tiredness and boredom, I do not know how serious the dust items are.
This is a priceless win for France and simplifies the options for Spain to qualify for the semis.

All the players were fully committed to the cause. You could see it when they trained. Not very smiley but up for the challenge.

Nikola was hugely inspirational.

France contained the Icelandic revolt as Iceland were cheered on by the public in Cologne.

A fairly new player Eirnasson is getting ready and he will shine in the first half as confirmed by the match stats.

It is understood that France has now at the very least secured presence to an olympic tournament for Tokyo 2020.

France had its opportunities to shine with Melvin as a leader
